Attendees will be able to choose one session per time period at registration.
All sessions on Saturday will be held in English.
Live Spanish Translation will be available and other languages upon request.

Creating/Revising Your Emergency Operations Plan

This moderated panel will bring together funders across the Bay Area who are interested in capacity building and direct service efforts for nonprofits working on farmworker efforts. You'll learn tips and strategies on how to best approach foundations and private donors, build relationships with funders, request the needed level of funding, develop pathways for coalition funding on common advocacy efforts.

Farmworkers issues such as affordable housing, worker rights, environmental protections, access to health services, childcare and emergency assistance have come to the forefront. Many of these issues need regional government partnerships, approaches, and interventions to be successful. This session will be led in a town hall structure to provide an opportunity for our attendees to discuss and advocate with legislators approaches government can support that will uplift the issues, problems, dreams, hopes and needs of the farmworker community.

Mexican Indigenous Cultural Competency

At least 165,000 of California farmworkers are estimated to be from Indigenous communities from the Mexican states of Oaxaca, Guerrero, and Michoacán, Learn more about these indigenous populations who often only speak their pre-Hispanic indigenous languages and have deep-rooted cultural practices and beliefs that often create barriers and isolate them from other Latino populations and keep them from accessing basic health and social support services.

Migrant workers have many housing challenges because of low pay, undocumented status, literacy issues and no credit. A panel of guests will discuss how tiny homes and micro-shelters are being used to help provide warm and safe shelters for people who can not afford housing.
